PortAventura’s New Roller Coaster Shambhala is Growing

The new roller coaster “Shambhala” costing over 25 million Euros is currently being built at the Spanish theme park PortAventura. According to the park, the 76 meter high mega coaster from Bolliger & Mabillard will strengthen the park’s position in the family sector and represents the largest single investment within the park history. The highest point of the 1,600 meter long track had already been reached in February and with this, the most complex phase of construction was completed. Luis Valencia, Director of Development of PortAventura, explained that the engineering work is "almost like surgery" and that he is convinced of the fact that Shambhala will be a very strong and powerful attraction that will inspire riders and spectators alike. The opening of the coaster is announced for spring 2012. For more details, please read our upcoming magazine issue. (eap)
