Public Value Award 2025 Presented to Public Pools
(eap) On 4 November, the “Public Value Award for Public Pools” was presented at the Congress Hall at Leipzig Zoo. Since 2010, the award has been presented by the German Association of Public Pools (DGfdB) to honor public swimming facilities that make an outstanding contribution to the common good. The evaluation is based on the so-called “Public Value Scorecard”, which was adapted for the bathing sector by Prof. Dr. Timo Meynhardt – chairman of the jury and expert in Public Value Management. To receive the award, facilities must excel in five equally weighted criteria: task fulfillment, quality of life, social cohesion, moral responsibility, and economic efficiency.
In the combined pool category, Fresch – Freisinger Erlebnisbad took first place. AquaFun Soest ranked second, while Nettebad Osnabrück and Nordbad / DSW Freibad Darmstadt shared third place. In the indoor pool category, first place went to the Sportschwimmhalle Schwimmparadies Jena and Freizeitbad Juramare Gunzenhausen, with Wasserwelt Langenhagen taking third place. In the outdoor and natural pool category, Freibad Bündigen was named the winner for 2025. ■
