Renovation Planned for “The Time Capsule” Indoor Water Park

(eap) The indoor leisure and waterpark facility Time Capsule in Coatbridge, Scotland, is planned to undergo a comprehensive modernization programme worth 2.5 million British Pounds (around 2.9 million euros). The measures are planned for 2026 and 2027 and will cover both the water attractions and the wider leisure offering at the venue near Glasgow.

Planned additions include a themed tipping bucket attraction, modernized health suites, and an indoor climbing arena by Clip ’n Climb. The changing rooms and pool surrounds will also be upgraded, while a new communal area overlooking the existing ice rink will be created and the soft-play area improved. Later this year, new attractions are also due to replace the existing waterslides in order to keep the offering attractive in the future.

Councillor Geraldine Woods, Convener of the Communities Committee, said: “The Time Capsule has been at the heart of leisure and family life in North Lanarkshire for more than 30 years, and this investment demonstrates our commitment to its future.” She adds, “These exciting improvements will enhance the experience for everyone who visits, while creating modern, accessible facilities that encourage more people to be active and enjoy everything the venue has to offer.”

Some of the new elements are set to draw on Coatbridge’s industrial heritage in their design. The town is known as a historic center of Scotland’s iron industry. With the investment programme, North Lanarkshire Council is continuing the modernization of the facility. Major engineering works have already been carried out in the waterpark, while lifts have been replaced and the fitness area renovated. ■
