Sea Life Königswinter Becomes the DinoXperience
(eap) The plans for the subsequent use of the former Sea Life Königswinter are taking further shape. At Easter 2026, the new DinoXperience is scheduled to open there, an edutainment offering by EXPLORADO, which operates interactive educational and leisure formats under the umbrella of EDUTAIN. The concept aims to transport visitors back more than 66 million years into the past – into the age of the dinosaurs. On around 2,000 square meters, the interactive expedition is intended to range from special features of the site in Königswinter and (fictitious) excavation finds there, to a futuristic research center and finally to encounters with prehistoric giants in the wild.
Janine Jaensch, CEO of Edutain, has clear goals for the new location: “With the DinoXperience, we are creating a place full of emotion, a spirit of discovery and genuine wonder. We want to enable children, young people and families to have an immediate, vivid encounter with the fascinating world of the dinosaurs – interactive, up close and unforgettable. For us, learning and experiencing belong inseparably together: Those who are enthusiastic, learn differently, more sustainably and with much more joy.”
According to Jaensch, it is not only visitors who will benefit from the leisure destination, but also the Königswinter location. “It is just as important to us to give the building in this prominent spot in Königswinter new shine and to restore its character as a gateway to the city centre. We do not only want to create a strong new excursion destination, but – together with the city and the surrounding businesses – revitalise the location, attract new visitor flows and create real added value for the entire region. The DinoXperience is therefore a project that meaningfully combines experience, education and location development – and gives Königswinter a piece of its future back.” ■
