Six Flags Great America Announces New Family Area for 2027

(eap) The US amusement park Six Flags Great America in Illinois plans to open a new family-friendly themed area called “Camp Timber Trail” in 2027. A total of nine family attractions are set to be created on the site of the park’s existing Canadian-themed “Yukon Territory” area. These will include three entirely new experiences, four reimagined attractions and the two park classics “Little Dipper” and “Logger’s Run”, which will be retained.

The main attraction of the new area will be “Sky Hawk”, which is expected to become the park’s 18^th roller coaster. The ride is expected to be a Suspended Family Coaster supplied by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma. Six Flags is promoting the new attraction as the longest, tallest and fastest Suspended Family Coaster in the US Midwest. Two further new offerings are also planned for families with younger children: “Trail Trotters”, an animal-themed riding attraction, and “Forest Grove Play Park”, a nature-inspired play area.

Camp Timber Trail is intended to mark the beginning of further additions and improvements throughout the park. Over the next three to five years, upgrades are planned to areas including landscaping, pathways and guest amenities. The park aims to enhance the visitor experience over the long term and encourage guests to return. ■
