Six Flags to Open Water Park in Mexico

Following the ground-breaking ceremony for China’s first Six Flags park in January (cf. EAP News from January 21, 2016), the US-based Six Flags Entertainment Corporation recently announced its plans for the opening of a water park in the Mexican state of Morelos. The company states that it has already received a corresponding permission from the IMSS, Mexico’s National Social Security Entity, to open and operate the waterpark. Six Flags intends to invest several million US dollar in a 27 hectare park, which has been closed to the public for several years, to add new water slides, rides and attractions along with several new culinary and retail locations. The water park Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec is expected to open in early 2017.

“We are very excited to bring the Six Flags experience to other parts of Mexico. Our theme park in Mexico City is one of our fastest growing and most beloved parks, and we look forward to offering guests thrilling Six Flags memories at the new Hurricane Harbor Oaxtepec water park for years to come,” says John Odum, President of the Six Flags International Development Company.
