Start of Construction for Modernization & Extensions at Säntispark

The Super-G and all other slides at Säntispark will remain open during the construction work.

(eap) The Freizeitzentrum Säntispark leisure center in Abtwil near St. Gallen, Switzerland, is starting modernization and expansion works next week. Säntispark, which offers a world of pools, slides, sauna and wellness facilities as well as various sports and leisure activities, will remain open despite the construction work.

Part of the extensions is the addition of three new slides to the existing slide tower. These are two body slides and a tube slide specially designed for families with children supplied by wiegand.waterrides. According to the park, there will also be a VR slide experience.

The existing “Sprudelbad”, an outdoor pool with bubble loungers, stream and whirlpool, will be completely renovated: guests will be able to enjoy an increased stream of water, additional bubble loungers and various water features.

A new restaurant is also to be added to the existing building to complement the existing gastronomic facilities at the spa. “This will allow us to offer our guests a wider choice of food and, above all, more seating,” says Michael Selb, Head of Säntispark.

In the sauna world, the existing women’s sauna is to be modernized and will be accessible as a mixed sauna after the renovation. In future, a new sauna, a brine steam bath and a salt room with micro-salt will be available. Completion of the work is planned for fall/winter 2024.

A new feature is also planned for the entrance area of the leisure center: In collaboration with Padelwerk – founded by former Swiss national soccer player Marco Streller and Flurin Lutz – a padel court is to be built there. If the approval process goes according to plan, it could be opened as early as in the second half of May this year. ■
