Sweden: Kolmården Announces New Children Attraction for Bamses Värld Theme Area

Sweden’s Kolmården Wildlife Park located near Norrköping plans to surprise especially its youngest visitors with a novelty in the 2022 season. Next spring, a new children’s attraction called “Skalmans Flygskola” (Eng.: Skalman’s Flying School) will be added to the park’s existing “Bamses Värld” (Eng.: The World of Bamse) theme area, the park announced earlier this week.

In the attraction, supplied by Italian manufacturer Zamperla, the little pilots will be able to take a seat in a total of eight “flying” cars to hover 60cm above the ground at a speed of 1.5m/s (5.4km/h). Unaccompanied children must be at least 90cm tall to ride. The design and theming of the attraction will be implemented by the Dutch company Jora Vision, which has already been involved in the development and design of this theme area in the past (cf. EAP 4/2015). In addition, kids can then also explore the new “Skalman’s Workshop” and have a bite in the redesigned and renamed “Wolf’s Sausage” food kiosk. To make room for the new additions, the theme area will be expanded by 1,200 square meters of space.

“For next season, The World of Bamse will be even more fun! Not only will we’ll have a brand-new attraction for our youngest guests, they’ll also explore Scalman’s Workshop. The Wolf’s House will also appear in the form of the new Wolf’s Sausage food kiosk. It’s great that we can now continue to develop Bamse’s World, which is so popular with our visitors,” says Christine Karmfalk, CEO of Kolmården, which is part of the Parks & Resorts Scandinavia group.
