Sweden: SkiStar Hammarbybacken Stockholm Adds New Attractions for a Year-Round Leisure & Skiing Offer

The SkiStar-Hammarbybacken leisure and ski resort in the Swedish capital of Stockholm offers sports enthusiasts and families various opportunities for outdoor activities all year round. Skiing, hiking, cycling, outdoor fitness and much more is possible here. With “SummerSki”, a nearly 9,000 square meter artificial ski slope was put into operation there in early September, which makes skiing possible now all year round and especially also during summer days, for beginners as well as advanced skiers.

“Hammarbybacken Stockholm becomes our sixth destination, which means we can make the city a little more active and fun with exciting and inspiring attractions for anyone looking for the joy of movement and memorable experiences in the city centre. With this investment and thanks to our collaboration with Neveplast, we hope to be able to help more people to be active and at the same time enjoy the best views in Stockholm”, says Stefan Sjöstrand, CEO and Group Manager of SkiStar AB.

In addition to the 500-meter-long downhill ski slope – for the implementation of which the Italian company Neveplast from Bergamo was responsible, using its ISCC PLUS certified “NP30 FREESKI Sustainable” synthetic surface – other new attractions have already been added this summer, including a climbing park with a 100-meter-long zipline, a mountain coaster and a mountain tube. Austria’s Sunkid company supplied the mountain coaster as well as two magic carpets (conveyor belts), which serve as feeders for the new tubing tracks, also from Neveplast. SkiStar, which is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, owns and operates several ski resorts in Sweden and Norway. SkiStar acts as a full-service provider, taking care of everything from accommodation and ski passes to ski schools, shops and leisure activities for the guests’ entire skiing experience. (eap)
