Therme Euskirchen Plans Major Expansion of Its Family Offerings

(eap) As part of a joint press conference with the City of Euskirchen, the Thermengruppe Josef Wund presented the initial conceptual considerations for the planned expansion of Therme Euskirchen this Friday. In the presence of Mayor Sacha Reichelt and representatives of the Thermengruppe – Edelfried Balle (CEO), Heiko Wollmann (CTO), and Uwe Barth (COO of the Josef Wund Thermal Group and Head of Therme Euskirchen) – perspectives for a future-oriented development of the site were introduced.

With the planned expansion, the aim is to further sharpen the site’s profile as a recreational destination for all generations. “Our goal is to further develop the existing offer in terms of quality, to attract new visitor groups, and to position the site sustainably as a modern, cross-generational retreat,” stated Heiko Wollmann.

The expansion focuses on the creation of a new textile family area. Plans include a weather-independent leisure environment with several thousand square meters of additional water surface, the integration of an outdoor pool, new health and prevention services, water slides, play areas, and extensive relaxation and lounging zones. This continues a concept that was initiated in 2019 with the introduction of family-friendly offers such as the “Family Saturday” and the opening of the “Palmenparadies” (Palm Paradise) to children during the summer holidays.

The City of Euskirchen has expressed strong support for the project. The municipal Committee for Environment and Planning unanimously initiated the necessary steps to amend the land use plan and to establish a development plan. Mayor Reichelt emphasized: “Our joint appearance today is meant to underline that the City of Euskirchen sees this project as a great enrichment for what our hometown has to offer and wants to support its implementation to the best of its ability.”

In addition to its leisure value, the thermal group also highlights the project’s broader significance for the economy, tourism, urban development, and education in the region. As Wollmann put it, “This expansion is much more than just creating additional tourist offerings – it’s a long-term development plan for the region.”

The group expects the project to generate broad regional benefits, including several hundred new jobs, partnerships with local schools and kindergartens, and the strengthening of health prevention through recreational offerings. “For us, the expansion of the textile family area is much more than a leisure project – it’s a promise for the future of Euskirchen. A place of encounter, movement, and relaxation; a driver for regional development and an emotional home for families from near and far,” Wollmann concluded. ■
