UK: Alton Towers Founder John Broome Buys Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park

According to British media reports, Alton Towers founder John Broome has confirmed his intentions to transform Cornwall’s Crealy Great Adventure Park into a six-star resort. In addition to the adventure park, Broome has bought 81 hectares (200 acres) of adjoining farmland to build up to 236 villas, log cabins and tree houses as well as a heated 6,000 square meter (1.5 acre) large “sub-tropical zone” with vegetation and a swimming pool. The plans are due to go before Cornwall Council next month. Broome hopes to bring 950 full-time jobs to the UK’s poorest region. According to his representative John Williams, the complex will become known as the “Camel Creek resort”. (eap)
