UK: Warner Bros. Studio Tour London Opens “The Forbidden Forest“

Following England’s Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter “No. 4, Privet Drive” expansion as part of the permanent Harry Potter film exhibition last year (c.f. EAP news from May 6th, 2016), Hogwarts fans can now look forward to the launch of the “Forbidden Forest”, which will open on March 31st, 2017.

In a mystical scenery, consisting of 19 trees with a diameter of 3.7 meters (12 feet) each, visitors can walk beneath giant entwined roots to discover original set props such as one of “Hagrid’s” costumes and a full-size model of hippogriff “Buckbeak”. Deeper in the depths of the forest, guests come face-to-face with the giant spider “Aragog”. Created by Nick Dudman, creature and make-up effects designer, and Stuart Craig, production designer, the spider has a leg span of over 5.5 meters (18 feet).

Sarah Roots, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Tours, is looking forward to the expansion: “We are so excited to launch the Forbidden Forest expansion of the Studio Tour, especially on the fifth anniversary of our grand opening. It’s great to be working with so many of the original filmmakers who know so much about the wizarding world. There will be an opportunity to take control of the weather and discover the techniques used to create a realistic forest within a film. We can’t wait to let visitors step into this mysterious set and discover all this amazing details for themselves,” said Roots. (eap)
