USA: Dolly Parton Announces Second Site for “Pirates Voyage Dinner and Show“

The “Pirates Voyage Dinner and Show” dinner spectacle, which has been successfully performed in Myrtle Beach/South Carolina for almost ten years now, is set to get a second location in 2019, according to a recent announcement from US entertainer and Dollywood Co-Owner Dolly Parton. The second location will be erected in Pigeon Forge, a smaller city in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, which is also home to the Dollywood theme park. Directly adjacent to the existing The Island family entertainment center, a new 2,000-square-meter (21,000-square-foot) arena will be constructed, with its opening slated for spring 2019.

When completed, the new arena will be the stage for “Crimson and Sapphire pirates” to battle on deck, in the water and in the sky above their full-sized pirate ships in a 4.5-meter (15-feet) deep indoor lagoon. Spectacular acrobatic competitions, live animals and original music are set to create an immersive adventure experience for the audience. During the show, guests can enjoy a four-course dinner menu.

“The show has been so successful in Myrtle Beach that we kept looking at Pigeon Forge and wondering why we didn’t already have a Pirates show there. We have the perfect location, in one of the hottest areas of Pigeon Forge, and the time is now for my pirates to stake claim to the Great Smoky Mountains,” said Dolly Parton.

“[…] For some time, we have been working on set and costume designs, unique show elements for this theater and animal and staff training. We’re all looking forward to opening in 2019,” added Jim Rule, CEO of World Choice Investments, a joint venture of The Dollywood Company, Fred Hardwick (“Dixie Stampede”) and Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation founded for the operation of dinner attraction venues.
