USA: Not For The Faint-Hearted – ICON Park to Add Two New Attractions with Thrill Guarantee

Orlando‘s ICON Park, which is located at the International Drive, recently announced plans to open two new thrill attractions this December. These will be the “Orlando Slingshot™“ and the “Orlando Free Fall™“, both to be supplied by Funtime. According to the operator, both the Slingshot and the Free Fall Tower will be the tallest versions of these attraction types in the world. The two pillars of the Slingshot rise around 91 metres (300 feet) into the sky, catapulting the two riders in the gondola into a height of approx. 137 metres (450 feet), while accelerating up to160 km/h (100 mph). During a ride on the Orlando Free Fall, the 30 passengers rotate around the tower structure to a height of 131 metres (430 feet), where the gondola will tilt 30 degrees before the guests will experience around 121 metres (400 feet) of free falling, reaching a top speed of over 120 km/h (75 mph).

“The Orlando Slingshot and Orlando Free Fall are joining their sister attraction the Orlando StarFlyer™, the world’s tallest stand-alone swing ride, to make ICON Park the ‘Land of the Giants‘. We’re excited to introduce these towering attractions to Central Florida and make the holiday season more exciting than ever,“ comments Ritchie Armstrong, owner of Slingshot Group of Companies™, operator of ICON Park.
