Madame Tussauds, a so-called midway attraction operated by Merlin Entertainments, will surprise visitors to its New York and London locations with a larger-than-life animatronic head of giant ape “Kong”.

In due time for the release of the new “KONG: Skull Island” movie, which will open in cinemas in mid-March, a new, multi-sensory environment has been created in cooperation with Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures to immerse guests into the world of Skull Island. Joined by “Captain James Conrad”, visitors make their way through the secluded bamboo jungle, avoiding traps of massive spiders and uncovering various artifacts. Finally, they come to face the robotic head of Kong himself – watching, snarling and roaring at those who pass. The animatronics figure measures approx. 5.5 meters (18 foot) in height and is decorated with over 33 square meters (350 square feet) of specialist faux hair.

Each movement of the head uses pneumatic controls, designed specifically for Kong – this animatronics figure is the first attraction of its kind at Madame Tussauds. (eap)
