(eap) Media-based simulator attractions specialist Simworx has announced what it describes as a new chapter in the company’s history: with immediate effect, the British provider – founded in 2005 and, according to its own information, responsible for more than 130 installations worldwide – is part of Liechtenstein-based manufacturer Intamin. Simworx’s portfolio includes well-known models such as “AGV Dark Rides”, “Immersive Tunnels”, “Pegasus Flying Theatres” and other motion-based ride systems.
As part of the new ownership structure, Simworx Attractions Limited is said to have acquired the assets, product range, IPs, trademarks, patents as well as the engineering, sales and support team of the previous British Simworx Limited. Terry Monkton will continue to lead the company as CEO. The existing company headquarters in the West Midlands and the team are also expected to remain in place.
In future, Simworx aims to combine its expertise in media-based attractions with Intamin’s resources, international reach and technical infrastructure. The company is also set to work closely with Dutch ETF Ride Systems, which is likewise under common ownership with Intamin. The focus will be particularly on joint product lines for track-bound and trackless dark rides as well as the development of new dark ride technologies and concepts.
Terry Monkton, CEO of Simworx Attractions Limited, explains: “I have long admired Intamin and have had the pleasure of collaborating with the team on a number of projects in the past. Their commitment to delivering outstanding ride systems, continuous product innovation and their extensive experience is very well known within the industry. They have been responsible for some of the world’s most iconic attractions, enjoyed by millions of people each year. The infrastructure and support available through Intamin and ETF Ride Systems were key drivers behind my decision to seek this partnership, which is ideal for Simworx as we enter our next stage of growth and continue delivering the next generation of immersive media attractions to clients across the globalleisure and entertainment sectors.”
Peter Kerstjens, CEO of ETF Ride Systems, says: “We welcome the opportunity to work alongside Simworx. They bring a strong reputation, proven products and deep experience in immersive media-based attractions. Whilst Simworx will continue to design and manufacture its product range, given ETF’s long established experience of Dark Rides – we are looking forward to collaborating on our mutual product lines of trackbound as well as trackless Dark Rides while sharing technical expertise, and jointly creating new innovative dark ride technologies and concepts for customers around the world.” ■
