Universal Studios Japan 2024 with Various Anime Highlights

(eap) Universal Studios Japan in Osaka is once again organizing various Japanese pop culture events this year. Among them – as the only year-round attraction –is the “Detective Conan 4-D Live Show: Jewel Under the Starry Sky”, which will open on March 22 in the “Manhattan Theatre” in the New York City themed area. Here, visitors can experience an adventure of the well-known young anime detective “Detective Conan” on a 40-meter-wide screen. Matching 4D effects such as water and smoke as well as live entertainers in the room are used to immerse viewers in the story presented.

In addition, from March 1 to August 14 (end date varies depending on the attraction – some offers end earlier), further Detective Conan attractions will await visitors as part of the “Universal Cool Japan 2024” event series. For example, park guests can experience “Detective Conan: The Escape”, a kind of escape room from Japanese company SCRAP Entertainment. Rollercoaster enthusiasts can look forward to the existing B&M coaster “Hollywood Dream – The Ride” with matching Detective Conan onboard audio. Furthermore, visitors will find a special form of gastronomy at “Lombardi’s Landing™ Terrace”. Here, guests will find clues to help them solve a case. Live music and appearances by the Conan characters “Heiji, Momiji and Kazuha” accompany this staging.

In addition to Detective Conan, anime fans can look forward to “My Hero Academia”-themed offerings. With “My Hero Academia: The Real 4-D”, guests will be able to enjoy a 4-D adventure specially created for the park for this popular anime. Each screening lasts around 20 minutes and takes place in the “Cinema 4-D Theater”. Appropriately themed snacks and drinks are available at a snack stand directly in front of the theater as well as in the “Beverly Hills Boulangerie”.

Parallel to the 20th anniversary of the video game “Monster Hunter”, the popular “Iceborne XR Walk” is back. This is a mixed reality experience in which visitors immerse themselves in the world of Monster Hunter and go on a monster hunt themselves. They are equipped with XR goggles with headphones, hand trackers, a backpack PC and an artificial weapon. The pure playing time is around 25 minutes. In the “Lost World Restaurant”, visitors will find the “Seliana Dining Room”, a new Monster Hunter-themed room where they can enjoy corresponding main courses, desserts and drinks. Merchandise for all three fandoms will be on offer at “Beverly Hills Gifts”.

A “Demon Slayer” event is currently taking place at Universal Studios Japan and will continue until June 9. As part of this anime event, visitors can ride the “Space Fantasy” rollercoaster with an Anime VR film and the Hollywood Dream Ride with onboard audio. The park also is offering a suitable range of food and merchandise. ■
