Warner Bros. Studio Tour: Storytelling through Costumes Workshop

Neben den Kostümen werden auch die schaurigen Todesser-Masken ausgestellt.

(eap) On selected dates in March and April this year, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London is offering the workshop “Mastering the Magic: Costume Creation” for visitors interested in the costumes of the Harry Potter film series and their creation. A total of 30 guests can take part in each workshop by prior registration and immerse themselves in the world of costume design. The programme is led by experts who focus on the art of storytelling through costumes.

Entertainment Inc./Publishing Rights © JKR During the exclusive 45-minute event, guests gain insights into the choice of fabrics, colours and fits for some of the most iconic costumes from the Harry Potter universe. From the evolving styles of the “Hogwarts” uniforms to the robes worn by Cedric Diggory during the “Triwizard Tournament”, and Hagrid’s oversized clothing, visitors can view the original outfits from the popular films up close. These include rare pieces from the sets as well as subtle design details that are otherwise scarcely accessible to the public.

Visitors will also discover several secrets behind the costumes of the various characters, such as how the seven “Horcruxes” are hinted at through the colours of Voldemort’s robes, the unexpected colour of Severus Snape’s suit, and the hidden meaning of Narcissa Malfoy’s coat. Highlights also include Luna Lovegood’s quirky party dress inspired by a Christmas tree, and Sirius Black’s distinctive coat, the structure of which subtly hints at his “Animagus” form.

The costume worn by Harry Potter when he first appears on screen in “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and will also be on display during the workshop. Upon arrival at the Studio Tour, workshop participants are escorted to special rooms to begin their journey through the world of costumes. After the event, they proceed to the “Great Hall” to embark on the main Harry Potter studio tour and admire the original sets from the films. ■
