The experience begins in the Great Hall, which has been set up for the “O.W.L. examinations“: from the exam papers fluttering away from the desks by order of Fred and George, to their spectacular fireworks lighting up the set. secrets will also be revealed behind Harry’s flying Hogwarts letters, his handy Invisibility Cloak, and Aunt Petunia’s elegantly iced floating cake. Visitors can further discover the scene from “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets“ in which Neville Longbottom is hung from a chandelier by mischievous goblins during Gilderoy Lockhart’s “Defence Against the Dark Arts“ lesson.

On 7 May, the new summer feature will premiere, promising “magical surprises, fascinating sets, and even more secrets and behind-the-scenes insights” in honour of the anniversary of the first Harry Potter film, as the Studio Tour announced. Further details are to be shared with guests soon via the Studio Tour’s Instagram channel and official website.

The Great Hall will be decorated with floating pumpkins and the long tables of the four Hogwarts Houses will be laid out with a festive Halloween feast. Magic fans should beware of roaming Death Eaters and Dementors in original ghostly costumes. However, brave young witches and wizards may also challenge them, testing their wand skills in a live duel. By following clues on a special Dark Arts activity passport, visitors will be able to track the “Dark Mark“ throughout the tour.

The Great Hall will be festively decorated, and fans of the film series will recall the iconic scene in which Harry receives his very first Weasley jumper in the Christmas-decked Gryffindor common room. As a final highlight, the snow-covered scale model of Hogwarts Castle awaits visitors. For the various types of artificial snow, the very same techniques will be used that were originally applied during the making of the films. ■
