(eap) WasserWelten Bochum has announced the comprehensive modernisation of its indoor swimming pool in the city’s Langendreer district. Work is scheduled to begin on 19 July: “Over the next two years, we not only want to renovate the pool, but also develop it in a future-oriented way in order to offer our guests a modern swimming experience for decades to come,” explains Marcus Müller, Managing Director of WasserWelten Bochum.

In addition to the energy-efficient refurbishment of the entire building envelope, the integration of a photovoltaic system and conversion to LED technology, plans also include a new ventilation system with heat recovery as well as efficient pool water technology. Visitors can look forward to a modern 25-metre combination pool, an additional multifunctional course pool with a movable floor, and a new children’s pool for water familiarisation for younger guests. In total, WasserWelten Bochum is planning to invest around 20 million euros in the complete modernisation.

Urban Blue, the outdoor leisure and recreation destination at the indoor pool that opened in 2024, will remain open to guests throughout the modernisation phase. ■
