(eap) As announced by operator Miral, the latest expansion of Yas Waterworld on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi is set to open next week on April 4. The development marks the next phase of the “Lost City” themed area, which was introduced last summer. Eleven new attractions will debut, including eight water slides, two jumping platforms and a leisure pool.

Among the highlights of the new slide tower, supplied by WhiteWater West, is “Matamir’s Drop” (a Flatline Loop slide). At over 40 meters in height, it will be marketed as the tallest waterslide in the United Arab Emirates. Adrenaline seekers can also look forward to “Sahel Matamir” – a freefall tube racer featuring intense acceleration phases and moments of weightlessness. Further additions include “Matamir Loop”, a high-speed body slide designed for rapid descents, as well as “Matamir Twist – Matamir Lights”, which combines fast drops with lighting effects. In addition, “Matamir Splash” introduces a duelling mat racer designed for competitive experiences.

Alongside the thrill-oriented elements, the new attractions will also offer some relaxation: “Sarab”, a spacious leisure pool area, is intended to create a relaxed, family-friendly environment. “Al Afda” has been created for thrill-seeking guests, who can leap from a jumping platform into the refreshing water below. ■
