Blackpool Pleasure Beach Announces to Open New Double Launch Coaster in 2018

The British amusement park Blackpool Pleasure Beach recently announced to build the UK’s first double launch coaster, which is scheduled to open in spring 2018. The project is named “Construction 2018” and refers to a state-of-the-art rollercoaster featuring two launch sections – one at the beginning of the ride and the other one half way through the track. Riders should experience the same levels of G force as felt by a driver of a Formula 1 racing car. In addition to this, the 1.14 kilometer long course of the new rollercoaster manufactured by the German company Mack Rides will feature 15 interactions involving five different park rides and tunnels. The highest point during the two and a half minutes’ ride is at approx. 27 meters (88.5 feet).

Amanda Thompson, Managing Director of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, is looking forward to its inauguration: “’Construction 2018’ follows in the long tradition we have at Blackpool Pleasure Beach of investing in fantastic rides and bringing first of their kind rollercoasters to the UK. Blackpool Pleasure Beach is home to the UK’s first looping coaster ‘Revolution’ and, at the time it was built, the world’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster ‘The Big One’, plus many more thrilling rides. I’m delighted to be able to continue this tradition and bring such a thrilling ride to the UK.”

The investment scheduled for this project is 16.25 million British Pounds (approx. 18.02 million Euros). (eap)
