New Wembley Stadium: Wash-Outs, Misfortune & Mishaps

 

In March, a 50-ton steel girder crashed and some 3,000 construction workers had to make a run for it so they wouldn’t get hurt. Shortly thereafter, underground pipes threatened to flood the entire facility… Actually, the new Wembley Stadium was supposed to have been finished last autumn, but currently, the construction deadline looks rather “open-end.” The new construction was also supposed to have originally cost roughly 500 million euros, but construction costs have more than doubled, currently tallying around 1.1 million euros.
