(eap) LEGOLAND® Billund Resort in Denmark has announced the opening of a new family roller coaster for the 2026 season. The planned ride will be a Dueling Coaster (Zierer) similar to the one that opened at LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort last year (see EAP 4/2024). As at Legoland in the UK, the roller coaster will be themed around two teams – the “Legends” team and the “All Stars” team. One team will be led by “Corn Cob Guy” and the other by “Banana Guy” – two team captains each claiming that their preferred fuel – popcorn or banana juice – is superior. Guests will be able to choose which team they want to belong to and who they think will win the race.
“What makes the Minifigure Speedway so special is the duel element, which makes it unique compared to other roller coasters. Here, our guests can look forward to challenging each other or making a good bet, because you can never predict which team will cross the finish line first,” emphasizes Michael Ottesen, CEO of Legoland Billund.
The new coaster will be centrally located in the park between the “Knights Kingdom” and “Adventure Land” themed areas and, with a height of almost 17 meters, will be a striking addition to the area. A nine-meter-high minifigure is to be erected in front of the new ride. This will represent “Roxie”, the minifigure speedway racer.
“The Roxie minifigure is a fantastic addition to the whole minifigure speedway universe. She will rise above the area so that our guests can see her from afar. Her size will also make her a real eye-catcher for passengers traveling to and from Billund Airport. I’m already looking forward to welcoming them to the park,” says Ottesen.
Preparations for the construction of the new roller coaster and the large minifigure have already begun. The opening of the “Minifigure Speedway” is planned for the start of the 2026 season. ■
