Plans for Alpendom in the Inntal

In the four Inntal communities Niederndorf and Ebbs (Austria) and Oberaudorf and Kiefersfelden (Germany) negotiations concerning the construction of a cross-frontier tourist attraction are under way: a 40-meter tall tower–like timber construction that is to link the Tyrolean and Bavarian hiking and bicycle track systems with each other from the Austrian bank through a suspension bridge. The outer façade of the interlaced construction with two towers standing side by side should serve as a climbing wall. Inside the vertical attraction will be a 3-D cinema, a simulation of a balloon flight over the Inntal as well as further interactive installations. The project requires a total investment of 3.8 million Euros whereof the communities pay 250,000 Euros each and 2.3 million Euros are expected to come from the EU. (eap)
