New Amusement Park in Edinburgh

The Scottish developer VW Leisure plans to construct Scotland’s first-ever eco-friendly amusement park on an old quarry site at West Lothian. The 72-acre site could open in summer 2011. VW Leisure plans to build a lodge-style hotel including event space, 33 New England style log cabins for hire or part-ownership and a restaurant. The park, that will have a wind powered electricity supply and a geo-thermal heating system, has also plans for a sailing school and an outdoor children’s activity park. 15 million British pounds (17.7 million euros) should be invested in the project. The planning application has been submitted to West Lothian council. (eap)
