Netherlands: Toverland Starts into Anniversary Season Today

Today, Dutch theme park Toverland welcomes back visitors, celebrating the start of its anniversary season – exactly on this date some 20 years ago, the Sevenum-based leisure destination opened its gates for the very first time. As for now, visitors are able to enjoy the outdoor attractions of the park, indoor facilities still have to remain closed until further notice. However, the park plans several special anniversary events to take place throughout the season, in order to surprise and entertain the guests. “We are delighted to celebrate our 20th anniversary together with our visitors. Right now we are looking forward to make this a festive day. By means of the Safe-Together-Out protocol, we are also ensuring that we can receive everyone in a safe and responsible manner,“ comments Jean Gelissen jr., COO of Gelissen Group, operator of Toverland.

F&B facilities will offer to-go drinks and food which can be enjoyed on the park’s terraces. Toverland starts to operate at 50 percent of its regular capacity and visitors need to purchase their tickets online in advance. As a special, persons with a name related to Toverland, such as Toos, Merlin, Troy or Avalon, will receive free entry to the park until June 30.

As of today, all outdoor theme parks in The Netherlands are allowed to reopen. Efteling also celebrates its reopening today, Walibi Holland will open its doors this Friday (May 21) and Slagharen as well as Avonturenpark Hellendoorn will follow on Saturday (May 22). (eap)
