"Drifti": Interactive Ride Launches at Särkänniemi
The world’s first installation of the new interactive “Drifter” ride from Zierer (see EAP-News of 13 Feb 2024) was opened a few days ago at Särkänniemi amusement park in Finland. Under the name “Drifti”, the ride now complements the park’s range of attractions with a new ride experience with an interactive control element.
Drifti is equipped with nine gondolas, each of which can accommodate two people – so the ride has a total capacity of 18 passengers per ride and 540 people per hour. Passengers can actively trigger drifting movements via a lever located in the gondola and thus shape the ride experience individually, which is aimed at young and old at speeds of up to 21.6 km/h. Riders from a height of 100 centimetres can ride accompanied by an adult and from 130 centimetres alone.
In the Finnish park, the ride, which has the insurance company Turva, also based in Tampere, as a partner, is rally-themed. In Särkänniemi, the attraction is located outside the actual theme park on an area in front of it next to the Observation Tower, planetarium and aquarium and is accessible with single-ride tickets. ■
