(eap) Ticiland in the Swiss municipality of Stein am Rhein is facing its definitive closure. The indoor amusement park is scheduled to close permanently as early as this coming Sunday, 26 April 2026. The aim is reportedly to “shut down” the park in an orderly manner by the end of June, in the sense of a structured liquidation. According to the official register, a creditor’s meeting has been scheduled for 20 May in Lucerne. There, Ticiland AG intends to propose a composition agreement with assignment of assets to its creditors. Already in the summer of 2025, the amusement park had reportedly been granted provisional debt-restructuring moratorium, which was intended to examine restructuring options. However, according to media reports, the search for new investors as well as a rescue attempt by a foundation have failed.

Ticiland opened in autumn 2020, in the midst of the Covid pandemic, and thus started operations under difficult conditions from the outset. According to reports, the revenues generated were not sufficient to cover the high operating costs. Entrepreneur Peter Hablützel – who had established the “first indoor amusement park in Switzerland” together with his business partner Markus Mack-Even back then – reportedly invested a total of 15 million Swiss Francs in the park. In early 2024, Mack-Even withdrew from the operational business of the amusement park.

Ticiland is located in the canton of Schaffhausen, close to the German border and not far from Lake Constance. The excursion destination had been created as a new indoor offer for families with children, featuring class rides such as bumper cars, a horse carousel, a wave swinger, a drop tower and a family coaster – see our story featured in EAP 1/2021. Half a year after the opening, the offer was expanded by a small outdoor area with further attractions. ■
