After Fire: Funny-World Opens New “Capitano Pedalo” Kiddie Coaster
Parkinhaber Michael Schludecker sorgt auf dem Ergometer dafür, dass Radiomoderator Raphaël Di Reda als „Capitano Pedalo“ über die neue Achterbahn saust.
(eap) After the devastating fire in July, in which several attractions were destroyed (see EAP news of 31 July 2025), there is now reason for joy at the Funny-World amusement park in Kappel-Grafenhausen (Baden-Württemberg, Germany): On 6 December, a new attraction is scheduled to officially go into operation. The development was preceded by an “architectural competition” in which the park’s young audience was invited to put its wishes on paper in the form of drawings. The first-place design – a roller coaster with blue track – is now set to launch.
“Capitano Pedalo” is a children’s roller coaster of the “KidsBlitz” type from the German manufacturer Inno-Heege. The special feature of this ride is its complete renunciation of an electric drive system: The cart is moved exclusively by the muscle power of the adult accompanying person, who, similar to an ergometer, propels the coaster car up the launch ramp using a bicycle drive. This allows up to two children aged three and above to be transported to a height of around 1.8 meters before the short descent begins. In total, the ride features a length of 15 meters and a capacity of 120 passengers per hour.
Additional new attractions intended to complement the park’s offer are already in development. These include the popular “Sky Diver” cable car, which also fell victim to the fire. According to the park, it may possibly be reopened before Christmas. ■
