(eap) Less than two years after its opening in July 2024 (cf. EAP 5/2024), Aquascope, the water park belonging to the Futuroscope Xpériences theme park resort near Poitiers, France, welcomed its one millionth visitor yesterday. Nine-year-old Justine Chéron visited the water park together with her parents to celebrate her birthday (see photo). The family had travelled to Futuroscope for a three-day stay. Upon arrival at the water park, she was warmly welcomed by park director Fabrice Delaigne. The park also surprised the family with vouchers and additional gifts, including a “Priority Pass” for their stay.

“Aquascope, with its eight slides, its aquatic play area for children and its immersive digital world that is unique worldwide, is a great success. The water park is fully booked on more than 80 days a year – with a maximum capacity of 2,700 people per day,” explains Fabrice Delaigne. “The aim was to extend the length of stay of visitors to Futuroscope and to establish Futuroscope Xpériences as a major short-stay destination in Europe. This goal has been achieved, as 60 percent of Aquascope visitors decide to extend their experience with a visit to Futuroscope. 55 percent of visitors to the water park travel more than three hours to get here.”

Aquascope is part of the “Vision 2025” investment programme, which totals 304 million euros, and was built at a cost of 57 million euros. According to the water park, it records an average of 500,000 visitors per year, 80 percent of whom are families with children. Recently, new plans for the expansion of the water park offering were announced. ■
