(eap) The development of the French theme park resort Futuroscope Xperiences is continuing to move forward: alongside the construction of a new hotel, plans are currently also being drawn up for the expansion of Aquascope, the water park that opened in 2024 (cf. EAP 5/2024). The measures form part of the EUR 300 million ten-year investment plan first presented by the resort in 2020.

A large part of the investments announced at the time has already been implemented – including the opening of the major attractions “Chasseurs de Tornades” (cf. EAP 5/2022) and “Mission Bermudes” at the theme park (cf. EAP 5/2025), the creation of the two themed hotels “Station Cosmos” and “Ecolodgee”, and the opening of the Aquascope water park in 2024. Further upgrades are now to follow as part of the development plan.

Aquascope, which offers various multimedia installations across more than 7,000 square metres in three themed indoor areas and thereby demonstrates how immersive even water parks can be designed, currently features an indoor slide tower with eight water slides. In the future, the park plans to expand its offerings with a more extensive outdoor area. This will include an adventure zone and a second slide tower, to which five additional water slides will be connected. The attractions will be supplied by Canadian manufacturer ProSlide. The first works on the expansion are scheduled to begin this September, with an opening targeted for 2028.

The hotel currently under construction will feature a direct connection to the water park and include a spa area with sauna, whirlpool and hammam. With the as yet unnamed new-build hotel, Futuroscope would increase its own accommodation offer, bringing the number of hotels to four.

In 2025, the resort welcomed a total of 2.6 million visitors. Of these, two million visitors were recorded at the theme park, which this year is presenting two new immersive experiences with “La Serre des Mondes” and “Pulse! L’Odyssée électrique”. ■
