Attractiepark Drouwenerzand Adds New Ride with Drifting Experience

(eap) Located in the Dutch province of Drenthe in the northeast of the country, Attractiepark Drouwenerzand is an attractive destination especially for families with children. A special feature of the park: included in the entrance fee (from 16.50 euros) are fresh fruit, sandwiches, chips, snacks and drinks! In addition to the theme park, there is also a vacation park that offers guests various accommodation options – including tree houses, lodges, cottages, a hotel and a campsite.

As a novelty this season, the leisure park will open “Drifter”, an interactive attraction from the German company Inno-Heege, which lives up to its name. That’s because the circular ride, which features six outrigger arms, each with a car mounted on small wheels, offers a fun drifting experience. As soon as all passengers have taken their seats, the drive center in the middle is set in rotation. Passengers sit alone or in pairs (the maximum permissible load per vehicle is 160 kg) in the carriages and can intervene in the driving action themselves by operating a rocker lever in their vehicle. This triggers the drift, which is intended to provide a unique ride experience with butterflies in the guests’ stomachs through rapid speed changes on different circular tracks. The minimum age of the guests required to take a ride is four years (with a minimum body height of 90 cm), children under eight years are only allowed to ride in the company of an adult. ■
