(eap) From July, the new mirador sports and leisure pool in Krems, Austria, located directly on the Danube river, will invite visitors to explore, relax and enjoy. Following an extensive project development, planning and construction phase, the facility, which is being built on the site of the former “Badearena Krems”, is now nearing completion. The city of Krems is acting as client for the state-of-the-art, light-filled new building, which places a strong focus on sustainability, functionality and quality of experience. General planning was carried out by the Vienna-based architectural office skyline architekten. Future operation will be handled by Kremser Freizeitbetriebs GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of the city. The project is currently being supported in its pre-opening-phase by GMF. Among other things, the company is taking care of the finetuning and coordination of all operational processes as well as staff training to help ensure a smooth launch of the facility. The investment volume for the project is cited at around 38 million euros.

The existing outdoor pool has been retained, will form part of the future offering and is scheduled to open for the season on 29 May. The indoor area of the new pool complex is divided into three main zones: sports, leisure & family, and sauna & wellness. These are complemented by the respective gastronomic areas.
The sports area of the indoor pool includes a 25-meter sports swimming pool with six lanes, a teaching pool for swimming lessons and courses, as well as a steam chamber. The leisure and family area comprises an indoor pool connected to a year-round outdoor pool. A pool specially designed for families with young children can also be found here. One of the highlights of the leisure area is a tube slide from Aquarena, which will also be accessible from the outdoor pool. The facility’s access and control system is being supplied by eccos pro / Novacom.

An extensive sauna landscape, fitted out by devine, will also be part of the pool complex’s offer. One of the key elements of this area is the infinity panorama pool with view over the Danube and the surrounding vineyards. Guests will have access to various sauna cabins, including a Finnish outdoor infusion sauna, a bio outdoor sauna, a herbal sauna and a steam chamber. A sauna roof garden with plunge pool and sunbathing lawn, as well as relaxation rooms and zones, will complement the area.
The outdoor pool offers both sports-oriented and family-friendly facilities. These include a 50-meter sports pool with diving tower, a non-swimmer pool, a 15-meter wide slide and a children’s area. The F&B offering promises a wide selection of fresh dishes prepared with regional ingredients. The “Mira” bistro will be available for internal guests, while the “WachauBlick” restaurant will also cater to external guests. ■
