(eap) Following continuous investments totaling 90 million euro in recent years in attractions and infrastructure, the Belgian theme and animal park Bellewaerde continues to advance its strategic development this year. The key addition for the upcoming season, which begins on April 4, is the redesigned “Canada” themed area, featuring two new attractions and a redesigned themed restaurant (cf. EAP News, July 9, 2025). As the park has now announced, the Wild Swing XL will operate under the name “Seesaw Swing”, while the new adventure course (by Kinderland) will be called “Timber Trail”. The “Canadian Burger” restaurant will provide the area’s food offering.

In addition to modernizing its attractions portfolio, the park is also implementing various ecological measures aimed at further improving its environmental footprint. Furthermore, Bellewaerde recently introduced a rebranding initiative to further strengthen its brand identity. This includes an updated logo as well as a graphical makeover of the park mascot “Roi Lion”.

In 2025, the park, which belongs to the Compagnie des Alpes group, welcomed around 800,000 guests, including local visitors as well as guests from the Netherlands and Germany. The park is also seeing rising demand in the B2B segment, with a satisfaction rate of 93 per cent. Park Director Stefan Lemey summarizes: “Borders – whether provincial or national – no longer prevent visitors from coming to Ypres. Bellewaerde is growing, and this is clearly noticeable. At the same time, the park remains what it has always been: a place where families – young and old alike, whether thrill-seekers or not – share their most beautiful moments and feel deeply connected.” ■
