Canada: Janine Durette is New Park President of La Ronde

Six FlagsLa Ronde theme park based in the Canadian metropolis of Montréal has named Janine Durette (photo) as new Park President. As the first woman to occupy this position at La Ronde, she succeeds Phil Liggett, who has recently joined Six Flags St. Louis as Park President.

“Janine’s work as Director of Finance for the past five years has been nothing less than stellar. She is already very familiar with La Ronde, the employees and the culture, which puts her in an ideal position to take the park to new heights,” said David McKillips, Six Flags Senior Vice President of International Park Operations. Janine Durette is looking forward to her new challenge: “I am honored and very excited to occupy the role of park president for La Ronde. I look forward to the challenges of this new role and contributing to the park’s exciting future, as one of the landmark entertainment venues in Montréal.”

This season, visitors to La Ronde can look forward to a new theme area for families, which will feature three new rides: The "Carnaval en Folie" park area will be a carnival-themed family zone inspired by fairs and carnivals with rich, bright colors, dazzling lights, festive music and crackling popcorn. Extravagantly decorated, Carnaval en Folie will host the new “Torsade” carousel, the “Petite Roue” family wheel and – for thrill-seekers – a “Tourbillon” ride. Furthermore, there will be a dedicated place for parents, grand-parents and children of all ages. La Ronde will open its new theme area starting into this year’s season in May 2018. (eap)
