Culturespaces: Seventh International Location to Open in Tokyo
(eap) A former submarine base in Bordeaux, the former gas blower hall of a blast furnace plant in Dortmund – it is often old industrial buildings that serve as the stage for digital art by French provider Culturespaces, fascinating visitors from all over the world with their extraordinary light installations. After Amsterdam, New York, Seoul, Jeju, Dortmund, and Hamburg, the Japanese capital has now been announced as the seventh international location for the French art format. In Japan, the project is being developed under the name “Rêve des Lumières” in collaboration with the Japanese television station TV Asahi. Starting end of May 2026, visitors to the new Tokyo Dream Park leisure and entertainment complex will be able to immerse themselves in the worlds of Van Gogh. The immersive exhibition, which presents the works of the famous Dutch artist, has already attracted 1.7 million visitors in Paris. More than 100 projectors (from Epson) and almost 60 loudspeakers will project the moving images onto the walls of the 1,200-square-meter exhibition.

“I am convinced that Rêve des Lumières in Tokyo will offer an unprecedented experience that combines French elegance and Japanese innovation and will establish itself worldwide as a reference in the field of immersive art and culture,” said Aurélien Bosc, CEO of Culturespaces. ■
