(eap) Germany’s ErlebnisBocksBerg destination near Goslar in the Harz Mountains offers visitors a variety of leisure activities all year round – during winter times activities such as skiing and snowboarding, in summer a bike park, a tubing slope, a skywalk and a summer toboggan run (the latter from Josef Wiegand).
From the upcoming Whitsun weekend, a new attraction will be added to the mountain adventure park’s offerings: the “Drachenblitz”, an Alpine Coaster from Wiegand, will open on Saturday, 7 June, featuring a special track route and a themed design based around a dragon adventure. The track course leads through five consecutive circles as well as a dragon cave, in which a large-format, talking figure with three dragon heads has been staged. According to the storyline, each of the three heads embodies its own charming character – young passengers should not get scared or frightened. The ride is equipped with modern technology such as automatic distance controls.

To coincide with the opening of the new attraction, Catharina Schubert from Märchenmanufaktur in Goslar has published a children’s book entitled “Drachenblitz – Der gestohlene Bergkristall” (Drachenblitz – The Stolen Rock Crystal), which is aimed at children aged six to twelve and tells an adventure story set in Hahnenklee and on the Bocksberg. In addition, the existing “Hexenlabyrinth” (Witches’ Labyrinth) on the ErlebnisBocksBerg has been thematically revised – the design there now also picks up on the content of the new story book.
More best-practice examples of attractions and experiences tailored to the summer season in mountain regions can be found in our special feature “Summer in the Mountains” in EAP issue 4/2023. A throwback on the 50-year company history of attraction manufacturer Josef Wiegand has been published in our current EAP issue no. 3/2025. ■
