(eap) The MICHELIN Guide Germany presented its latest Michelin star awards yesterday as part of the annual “MICHELIN Guide Ceremony”, which this time took place at the Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten in Frankfurt am Main. Among the gastronomic establishments recognised are, for the first time, the experience restaurant Eatrenalin, which opened in 2022, and once again the fine-dining restaurant Ammolite – House of Light at Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort. The awards are based on the assessments of anonymous Michelin inspectors, who evaluate dishes according to several criteria – furnishings and ambience are not taken into account.
Initiated by Thomas Mack, Managing Partner of Europa-Park, and gastronomy expert Oliver Altherr (†), the experience restaurant Eatrenalin combines haute cuisine with multisensory staging and innovative technologies (read also our cover story in EAP issue 6/2022). As at Ammolite, culinary responsibility for the restaurant lies with Peter Hagen-Wiest, who, under the title “Hagen-Wiest & Friends”, brings the signatures of renowned chefs into the multisensory experience at Eatrenalin. Each guest chef is responsible for one course of the menu, which is curated by Hagen-Wiest.

“The recognition of our restaurant Eatrenalin with a Michelin star fills us with great joy and gratitude. It is a wonderful confirmation of the courage to explore new paths and of the passion shown by our entire team. From the very beginning, Eatrenalin was a culinary vision with the aim of combining enjoyment, emotion and innovation in a unique way. This award underlines our ambition to continuously develop the gastronomic profile of Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort,” says Thomas Mack.
For the twelfth time in succession, Ammolite – House of Light, which is located in the lighthouse of Europa-Park’s four-star superior “Bell Rock” hotel, was able to celebrate two Michelin stars. The fine dining restaurant was officially reopened only in March following extensive redesign work (see EAP news of 18 March 2026).

The restaurant, which opened in 2012 and has been under Hagen-Wiest’s direction from the outset, received its first Michelin star after just one year of operation. One year later, it was awarded a second star for the first time. For nine years, Hagen-Wiest has been supported by his sous-chef Julian Schmid – their cuisine stands for a contemporary interpretation of classic European culinary tradition with international influences. “These awards mean a great deal to us. They confirm the strength of the teams and, at the same time, motivate us to continue developing the restaurant with the same innovative spirit and commitment to quality,” explains Hagen-Wiest.
With these awards, Eatrenalin and Ammolite can measure themselves against top restaurants in major German cities such as Hamburg, where a total of 16 establishments received Michelin stars this year, including 100/200 Kitchen and the Lakeside restaurant. ■
