Efteling Presents New Show and Expands Barrier-free Offerings

Ab dem 3. April können Gäste die neue Show „Magicaluna“ im Efteling Theater erleben.

(eap) The Dutch theme park Efteling will present a new show at the “Efteling Theater” starting on April 3. The 20-minute, non-verbal production entitled “Magicaluna” tells the story of the teenage girl Luna, who embarks on a journey through dizzying dreams full of magical illusions and wondrous creatures that are intended to convey an important life lesson to audiences: “You are never too old to dream”.

For Magicaluna, Efteling is working with the production company Magus Utopia. With more than 25 years of experience and performances in over 40 countries, the company is known for its originality and imaginative illusion art, in which storytelling plays a central role. In recent years, Magus Utopia has designed, among other things, the Halloween production “Nightmare Fuel Wildfire” for Universal Studios Florida (USA) as well as several productions for the circus theater at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom (China). Magicaluna will be shown three times daily at the Efteling Theater from April 3 through November 8, 2026.

At the same time, Efteling is expanding its barrier-free offerings. With immediate effect, the park is providing subtitles in German, French, Dutch and English for almost all narrative formats via the Efteling app. The app shows which attractions offer subtitles; these can be activated if required. The app automatically detects the language in which the subtitles are needed. The texts displayed on the screen are then synchronized with the voices audible on site. In this way, guests with hearing impairments are intended to be able to follow the stories more easily and enjoy the experience as fully as possible. For guests with visual impairments, an audio description in the Fairytale Forest as well as at selected attractions is also to be introduced over the course of the year.

Femke van Es, Community, Communication & Environment Manager, explains: “Efteling is a place for everyone, and we want all visitors to be able to understand our stories as fully as possible. Subtitles are the first step, followed by audio description. Within our industry, this is innovative and quite a challenge, as it requires different technologies to work seamlessly together. Together with our sole shareholder, Efteling Nature Park Foundation, we are allocating the necessary time and resources. With these measures, we are once again removing barriers and making the park more accessible.”

More on the latest developments at Efteling and other European leisure parks can be read in our park report in EAP issue 2/2026, due to be published on 2 March. ■
