European Premiere: VR Journey Through the Inca Estate of Machu Picchu
(eap) Following its debut in Washington, D.C., the “Ultimate Machu Picchu Experience” will make its first European stop in Berlin, where the new Virtual Reality attraction is set to open on September 11 in the Charlottenburg district. Supported by the live-entertainment platform Fever, visitors can look forward to a virtual journey back in time to the Inca estate built in the fifteenth century at an altitude of 2,430 meters – today a well-preserved ruin site and UNESCO World Heritage destination attracting researchers, historians, and tourists from around the world.

In Berlin, Machu Picchu will soon be accessible from afar thanks to VR technology. For the experience, guests are equipped with wireless VR headsets and begin their journey in a futuristic travel agency, where they meet their personal guide – robot “Teri” – who introduces them to the time-travel adventure through the sacred temples and secrets of the “Lost City.” Participants can freely explore the virtual Machu Picchu environment, developed in collaboration with archaeologists and historians. From significant moments of Inca culture to breathtaking panoramic views of the Andes, and from historical facts to entertaining fantasy elements – in around 45 minutes, guests can enjoy an emotional, accessible journey.

“The ‘Ultimate Machu Picchu Experience’ is more than a visit to an exhibition. It is a virtual expedition that brings history to life, evokes emotions, and sets new standards for cultural storytelling in the digital space,” says Fever about the attraction, which was developed over five years with the support of more than 50 specialists and through modern techniques such as drone footage, LiDAR scans, and photogrammetry. The virtual time travel experience is recommended for visitors aged eight and older, and also for school groups. ■
