Familypark Announces New Viticulture Area for 2026
(eap) The Familypark in St. Margarethen (Austria) has announced a new themed area with two attractions for the 2026 season: In the “Abenteuerinsel” themed world, a new area is to be created in place of the roughly 20-year-old “Tempelrutsche”, where everything will revolve around viticulture. The centerpiece of the new zone will be the family thrill ride “Rotonda”, a “Disk’O Coaster” from the Italian manufacturer Zamperla. For the youngest guests, the “Wilder Winzer” will be created – a “Crazy Bus” (also from Zamperla), themed as a transport vehicle for wine barrels. Familypark will invest a total of around 4.7 million euros in the construction of the new area and will award a large share of the contracts to regional and Austrian companies. Both attractions are scheduled to open in spring 2026.
The fact that Familypark, thanks to continuous investment in its visitor offering, is a strong economic driver for the region is underlined by a recent economic efficiency and value-creation study conducted by the Vienna-based consultancy Kreutzer, Fischer & Partner. According to the study, 94 percent of surveyed guests said that the park was the main reason for an excursion to the region. Around half combine their visit with additional activities or shopping in Burgenland, and more than 40 percent cite at least two further activities. Accommodation providers, gastronomy, retail and numerous service providers in the Neusiedler See region benefit from this.
According to the study, the activities of Familypark create an annual average of 196 additional jobs, 169 of which are in companies located in Burgenland. The induced purchasing power is supposed to amount to around 11.4 million euros, of which 9.8 million euros remain in Burgenland. In total, 413 jobs per year are directly and indirectly linked to Familypark, 386 of them in the region according to the study. The park’s overall economic contribution for 2022 to 2024 is supposed to total 51.4 million euros – consisting of 24.1 million euros in purchasing power, 10.9 million euros in investments and 16.4 million euros in taxes and levies.
“The study impressively shows the economic significance that Familypark has for Burgenland. With the new attractions for 2026, we are making a targeted investment in the future and expanding our offering for different age groups within the family. In this way, we are strengthening the St. Margarethen location and the entire UNESCO World Heritage Region Neusiedler See in a sustainable manner,” emphasizes Familypark Managing Director Filip de Witte. ■
