(eap) At the invitation of the German Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (VDFU), representatives of various leisure associations came together in Frankfurt am Main, Germany for the first time for a joint association dialogue. The aim of the meeting was to discuss shared interests, challenges, and problems of the industry and to explore approaches for a stronger political representation of interests in the future.

The exchange was attended by the European Waterpark Association (EWA), the International Adventure Park Association, the German Bowling Association, the Association of German Cableways, the German Wildlife Enclosure Association, and the German Association of Zoological Gardens.

A further meeting is to take place in Nuremberg at the invitation of the EWA. The dialogue between the associations is a positive sign of a possible strong joint stance toward politics in the future. That German policymakers perceive the tourism and leisure industry as an important economic sector and their wish to continue supporting it is demonstrated by yesterday’s decision of the Federal Cabinet on the new National Tourism Strategy. ■
