First Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark to Open in Nebraska in 2027

The first Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark is scheduled to open in Bellevue, Nebraska, at the end of 2027, bringing several well-known Mattel brands.

(eap) Mattel has shared an update on its upcoming Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterpark: In Bellevue, Nebraska, the first Mattel-branded indoor water park is scheduled to open at the end of 2027 as the first of five planned destinations. At the same time, the company has released further details and renderings of the future attraction offering for the first time. The facility in Bellevue will be developed as part of the Good Life District mixed-use destination.

Covering around 9,300 square metres, the venue will bring together several Mattel brands under one roof, including Barbie, Hot Wheels, Fisher-Price and UNO. Announced attractions include a Barbie-themed FlowRider® surf simulator, a Hot Wheels multi-slide tower, a lazy river featuring themes inspired by popular Mattel games such as UNO, Rock ’Em Sock ’Em Robots and Magic 8 Ball, a Fisher-Price water play structure, as well as themed food and beverage offerings. A retractable roof by OpenAire will allow for a year-round, climate-controlled operation while also providing natural light and fresh air.

Canadian specialist WhiteWater was already announced earlier this year as the supplier of the water attractions. Martin Aquatic is responsible for the design of the facility, while American Resort Management will oversee day-to-day operations and guest-flow optimisation.

With Bellevue, Mattel has now specified four of the five planned locations in North America. Further facilities are planned for Orlando, Florida; Bradley, Illinois; and Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The newly released renderings of Bellevue provide the first concrete impression of how Mattel’s well-known brands will be translated into water attractions and themed environments. While the locations will share a common overall concept, each destination is expected to offer its own individual experiences.

“Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks are about bringing great experiences to where our fans actually live. We see a real opportunity to take the kind of immersive entertainment traditionally concentrated in major markets and bring it to more communities in a scalable, year-round format. Bellevue becoming our first Waterpark to open is an important step in that strategy and a significant chance to show what happens when you bring so many of our brands together in one place,” explains Natalia Premovic, Chief Consumer Products and Experiences Officer at Mattel. ■
