With this strategic move, the family-run company aims to further strengthen its leading position in the European market.

The acquisition includes all eleven The Game Box locations – nine in the Netherlands and two in Germany. Starting in January 2026, these venues will gradually be converted into Gamestate centres. As a result, the Veltmeijer Group’s portfolio will expand from 50 to a total of 61 venues across eight countries.

The German market, in particular, is a key focus area, as Roel Veltmeijer, sole shareholder and CEO of the group, emphasises: “The Game Box has achieved impressive growth in a short period, with locations in cities where we have not yet been active. With this acquisition, we achieve nationwide coverage across all major Dutch cities. The German locations perfectly fit our international growth strategy. By converting them into Gamestate venues, we are providing a quality boost that will offer existing guests a refreshed experience while attracting new visitors. We are proud of this step and warmly welcome not only The Game Box’s guests but also its more than one hundred employees to Gamestate.”

Kim Hollands, Co-owner of The Game Box Group and former employee of Veltmeijer Group, adds: “I’ve worked with Roel for many years and it feels special to transfer The Game Box to him and his team – a group that understands our industry like no other and can take it to the next level. My gratitude goes out to our fantastic team, who have built this company with passion and dedication.”
