German Premiere of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child“ Scheduled for 2020 in Hamburg

The German version of the two-piece theatre production “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” will premiere on March 15, 2020 at the Mehr! Theater in Hamburg, Germany. The play written by “Harry Potter” novel author Joanne K. Rowling and script author Jack Thorne, staged by director John Tiffany, was first performed in 2016 at the Palace Theatre in London. Next year, the show will see its German language debut production, the first non-English version of the play. For its premiere, Hamburg’s Mehr! Theater will see a major redesign with construction works starting in May this year.

“Hamburg feels a very big step for us, because it’s the first time we are going to a non-English-speaking theatre. That’s going to be an interesting extension of this idea, and we are very excited about it!” says Joanne K. Rowling.

The official trailer for the German debut is available on the online video platform “YouTube” here. (eap)
