Following a construction period of three years, this past October saw the opening of the German Football Museum in the city of Dortmund (cf. EAP News from November 5, 2015). In the presence of the museum’s director Manuel Neukirchner and the former national football player Dariusz Wosz the first special exhibition entitled “25 Years of German Football Unity” was recently opened at the new museum. Until December 13, 2015 the exhibition's eleven themed areas offer a review on sport-historical events during the political watershed years and German-German football matches in times of a divided Germany. Furthermore, the exhibition informs its visitors about important football developments since the German reunification. The exhibition's centerpiece is a trabbi car which reminds of the reunification of the East and West German football associations. On November 21, 1990 Hans-Georg Moldenhauer and Hermann Neuberger, former presidents of the two associations, sealed the reunification by shaking their hands above this car. (eap)
