Germany: HUAWEI Green Planet at ZOOM Erlebniswelt Now Open
Recently, Germany’s ZOOM Erlebniswelt in the city of Gelsenkirchen has inaugurated its new “HUAWEI Green Planet” Augmented Reality (AR) facility, located in the animal park’s “Asia” theme area, providing visitors with a virtual animal encounter in the exotic Asian landscape. To offer this new attraction, the park – which is divided in the three realms Asia, Africa and Alaska – has constructed a new, 45 square meter large presentation building set in a jungle scenery. Once visitors step into the activity space, they are filmed by cameras and digitally captured in the AR film. In this way, guests are immersed into the jungle wildlife, where they encounter Asian elephants, Giant Pandas, orangutans and other Asian animal ambassadors.
To realize the project, Stadtwerke Gelsenkirchen – operator of ZOOM Erlebniswelt – has partnered again with Chinese HUAWEI technology group. In 2015, the provider had already installed a comprehensive WLAN network in the zoo (cf. EAP news from July 14th, 2015), which now offers its guests numerous digital edutainment features for smartphones (cf. EAP news from April 6th, 2017). (eap)
