Germany’s HarzWaldHaus with New Forest Experience Exhibition

Germany’s HarzWaldHaus with New Forest Experience Exhibition

The HarzWaldHaus, formerly known as the “House of Nature”, is centrally located in the spa gardens of Bad Harzburg (Lower Saxony, Germany) and provides interesting information and impressions about nature conservation in the Harz National Park. Last fall, a new, interactive forest experience exhibition was opened here, which focuses on “experiencing the forest” through the ages. Among other things, visitors here can marvel at Germany’s largest indoor formicarium (an artificially created world for observing and keeping ants) and receive up-to-date information on the lynx that has been reintroduced to the Harz Mountains.

While the first basic concept for the new exhibition was developed a few years ago in cooperation with Erlebniskontor GmbH, the design agency Kunstraum – GFK carried out the detailed planning. However, since this company had to file for insolvency in the meantime, the final work was completed by studio ntw from Hamburg. The HarzWaldHaus expects up to 20,000 visitors per year who come to the new exhibition to learn more about the Harz forest and its importance for humans, biodiversity and the natural balance.
