(eap) The Swedish amusement park Gröna Lund today announced the opening of a new interactive dark ride for 2027. The indoor attraction “SCORE!” is set to be built between “Twister” and “Katapulten” and will be positioned as an interactive family experience for a broad audience.

Thematically, the attraction will take guests into the park’s underground archive, where unusual artefacts, forgotten inventions, old rides and memories from 140 years of park history have accumulated over the years. Antique carousel parts, props from legendary concerts and never-realised game ideas are said to have found their place there. However, as the archive is increasingly descending into chaos, guests are to intervene themselves according to the storyline: equipped with laser blasters, they will ride through the magical chambers, hit targets, collect points and help restore order.

Technically, “SCORE!” will be based on a trackless ride system using advanced radar-based positioning technology. A total of eight vehicles, each accommodating up to six riders, planned to be able to rotate, change direction and move flexibly through the themed scenes. The manufacturer of the attraction will be announced in September at IAAPA Expo Europe in London. Jakob Fagerström, Creative Director of the operator group Parks and Resorts Scandinavia, is responsible for the design of the approximately 700-square-metre (7,500-square-feet) attraction in collaboration with Jora Vision. The investment amounts to SEK 205 million (approx. USD 19 million).

“The combination of a radar-based trackless ride system, a magical immersive environment, and the fact that guests become part of the game creates an experience unlike anything else. I’m proud to say that with SCORE!, we are creating something truly unique within the attractions industry,” emphasises Jakob Fagerström, Creative Director at Gröna Lund and Parks and Resorts.

Jan Eriksson, CEO of Gröna Lund, also sees the new attraction as a versatile offering: “SCORE! blends speed, action, ride thrills, and gameplay in an entirely new way and will bring out everyone’s competitive spirit. It’s incredibly exciting to offer our guests an experience that works just as well on a warm summer day as it does during a winter conference or corporate event.” ■
